Feel free to write to me via e-mail with any suggestions on the website, comments about my trip, or any questions you might have! When sending an email, include "PCT" somewhere in the subject line so I make sure it doesn't get filtered out as junk mail.

Want to send me a care package out on the trail? Heres how! (Please read all of these directions, or I may not get your package.
1- Contents of the package. Please send as many letters as you please. If you are going to send a care package, please send any of the following: Cookies (no raisins), snacks, newspaper articles, pictures, cookies, or whatver else along those lines. Do not send stuffed animals, bricks, toys, books. I will have to just mail those kind of things home because I can't use them out on the trail and they weigh too much.
2- Shipping method. For letters send them first class only (is there any other option?). For packages send them Priority Mail. Do not mail parcel post. It has a much higher chance of getting lost/ not getting to me if it is not Priority Mail. If a particular place only takes UPS is will be mentioned under the address below. Do not send anything FedEx. Only Priority mail, or UPS if specified.
3- Informing me about a package. I must know if a package is supposed to be coming in. Since I am picking up general delivery, I have to say how many letters/ packages I need to pick up. Send me an email (use email address above) with where you are sending it to, a description of the package (size, color, etc) and a date that it was/ will be mailed. Include "PCT package pickup" in the subject line, that way me email filter will not accidentally delete it. If I don't know about your package, I cannot pick it up. I need to know to pick a package up at least 10 days in advance, preferably closer to 2 weeks.
4- When to have the package arrive. Please check my itinerary for up-to-date info about when I will be arriving at a certain location. The schedule listed will be more accurate the closer I get to a location. For example, I will probably be in Palm Springs within 2 days of when it says on my schedule, but I might be off as much by two weeks of my planned date for some place in Washinton. Plan on a package arriving about 4-7 days before I am supposed to get there. Postal employees should be able to give you a decent estimate of the arrival times when you mail the item.
5- How to address the box. Address the box exactly as listed below. Also include in the lower left corner of all letters/ packages "Hold for PCT Hiker. ETA: (date)" and put the date as I have it listed on my itinerary page. Also, writing my last name on the sides of the box with a big sharpie helps the postal employees find the right package for me. Also, if you wrap the package in bright paper or with bright ribbons it makes it easier to locate (I love hot pink!) when I am going to pick it up, since at some of these locations they recieve hundreds and hundreds of packages for hikers.
